What does certified mean?

What do you need a certified translation for?
Certified translations are required in many areas of life. For example, they are needed for documents that have to be presented to authorities or courts, or for documents that are to be used abroad.

What is a sworn translator?

A sworn translator has been authorised by the competent court to produce translations for certain languages and to certify that they are correct and correspond to the content of the original.

How can you recognise a certified translation?

A certified translation bears

  • a certification mark,
  • a certificate of accuracy,
  • a stamp,
  • and the signature of the respective translator or his translation agency.

Depending on the country, only sworn translators who are listed on the official list of sworn translators may produce a 'certified', 'sworn' or 'official' translation.
